Kolakhoor - Dubai Model Village

Kolakhoor Tribal Hill Village is located in Yercaud Tehsil of Salem district in Tamil Nadu, South India. It is situated 13 kms away from sub-district headquarter Yercaud and 48 kms away from district headquarter Salem. Kolakhoor and its neighboring 8 villages had no health service facility. Nearest medical facility was 20 kms away from these villages and there was no proper roads to reach the health service center. These were risky on availing medical services during an emergency. Kolakhoor was identified as a village in immediate need of medical facility.

C.S.I. Tamil Parish, Dubai has adopted this village to provide health care facility, education to the tribes in addition to spreading the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Initially two projects have been initiated, funded and monitored by C.S.I. Tamil Parish, Dubai. They are:

1. Good Samaritan Health Care Centre (HCC)
2. Parsonage & Guest House for Kolakhoor

C.S.I. Tamil Parish Dubai donated funds for the construction of Good Samaritan HCC for which foundation was laid by then-CSI Moderator, The Most Rev. G. Devakadasham on 8th December 2012. The construction of Health Care Centre was completed and dedicated by The Most Rev. G. Devakadasham on 17th May 2013. The Health Care Centre is well administered and controlled by Dr. Samuel Delightson, where patients are given the best possible treatment and hospitality. Funds sent from Dubai are being utilized to the maximum possible means for the wellbeing of the tribal community. Medicines are purchased from Salem City, down the hill which is about 4-hour drive from the Hill. Patient records and follow-up checks are well managed by the doctor. The Health Care Centre operates daily from 9am to 8pm serving an average of 20 patients per day. At present 3 beds are available for inpatients and a provision for expandable facilities are also made available to this Health Care Centre.

Good Samaritan HCC is one of its first kind around these hills to have a qualified full time doctor to serve the tribes. Good Samaritan HCC has two full time staff in their payroll at present, a Doctor and a Female Helper, whose salaries are being paid by CSI Tamil Parish, Dubai. Expenses related to Medicines and other infrastructures are also born by CSI Tamil Parish, Dubai. Good Samaritan HCC provides free health care services to 8 villages in and around Kolakhoor Model Village. D.M.P.B. (Diocesan Missionary Prayer Band) missionaries are involved in raising awareness of the free facilities provided by HCC among the local tribes in and around the Kolakhoor village. CSI Tamil Parish, Dubai, also funded the construction of a new parsonage with guest house facility. At present, the Church missionary and Doctor are living in the parsonage. Regular periodical visits are being made by the Dubai church members and the needs of the Good Samaritan HCC are met immediately.

Our Missionaries show more concern towards the tribal children who feel ignored since their parents are out at work during whole day time. Missionaries conduct free tuition classes for kids, visit their houses and pray for them. In addition to these services, the tribal children are provided with clothing and gifts during festival seasons.

Orphanages

CSI Tamil Parish, Dubai helps under privileged children in various orphanages by providing books and stationaries to facilitate them build their career and have bright future. New cloths and special food are provided to them during festival seasons.

The Church remains as a main source in providing the tiny tots with spiritual nourishment at their early stages of their life. Well trained teachers are being appointed to teach the children in those orphanages with biblical traditions and principles of life through which they could challenge the fast-growing economic society and lead a peaceful & spiritual life without deceitfulness.

Donation to Charities (UAE)

Rashid Centre for Disabled (RCD), Dubai
We reached yet another milestone by helping the physically and mentally challenged students at Rashid Centre for Disabled (RCD), Dubai by funding for purchase of hi-tech wheel chairs. We are continuing to make a significant development at this region and donate to this charity yearly to render our valued services.

Blood Donation at Latifa Hospital
Blood, being a vital element for sustaining life and having seen shortages by many people in the blood banks, CSI Tamil Parish, Dubai has started donating blood every year since 2010. Under the expression "Give Blood, make a difference in another's life", Blood Donation Camp is being organized at Latifa Hospital and members of the C.S.I Tamil Parish Dubai cheerily participate in this event. These have been blessed events that give us immense satisfaction for helping those in serious needs and promote social welfare.
